☾ FIRST [video/action]
[ Oh, look! A new video entry. It starts up and it's… upside down. Actually it's more like the picture is twirling, so even though it starts upside down it's slowly turning until it's right-side up for a moment, revealing a teenage girl staring at it suspiciously before the slow spinning starts up again as she turns the journal around in her hands. ]
If this really is a camera it's the smallest one I've ever seen. [ She finally comments, stopping the spinning so that she is sideways on the screen. ] And what good is it even supposed to do, anyway?! Is this some kind of mover thing? Can anyone see me? Can anyone-
[ The video suddenly freezes as if she'd paused it, then starts up again. ] -like I'm talking to a book. Great. I get kidnapped or lost or whatever and I'm talking to a book. This is just- [ It pauses for a few seconds again. ] -I can't believe- [ Pause. ] -who even- [ Pause. Finally after what seems like a longer pause the video finally starts playing again and Korra is finally facing the right way with the camera. She looks pretty panicked. ]
Okay, this book is weird. It started talking to me and there's all sorts of writing but why do I even have this? Who even are you people writing in here? This is ridiculous. I'm leaving. ...As soon as I find the exit.
[action]
[ Korra's managed to find her way to the actual village now, still wearing the white shirt and pants she arrived in but a little more focused and less panicked. This wasn't the weirdest thing that's ever happened to her after all! Well, it probably wasn't anyway, but she wasn't about to sit around comparing them. She'd woken up in a forest with a weird book and nothing else, not even her own clothing let alone an explanation. Flipping through the pages of the book had given her a few details (although not as many as there could have been considering she wasn't exactly patient enough to sit around and read thoroughly at the moment) but really the BEST way to figure something out was to get up and out and see what it was with your own eyes.
Sometimes, anyway.
Seeing buildings had been a huge relief but the closer she got to them the more she found herself pausing. Of course part of her wanted to run right in and start demanding answers. The biggest part, really. But there was another, much smaller part that was telling her to be cautious and patient about the situation to avoid doing anything reckless.
That part sounded an awful lot like Tenzin.
Sure, she wasn't the best at taking his advice back home but in this situation she had to grudgingly admit that maybe she should at least start out cautious. Which is why she's now slowly peeking around a building, one hand against the wall and the other held up as if expecting a fight at any second- ]

[Action]
Well your spirit I guess- [ Wait a second. She stops mid sentence, looking at him in confusion (although she still continues to reach up and try and pet the lemur in her hair. It's hard to resist.) ] What do you mean, remember this place? Should I?
[ Before she gets a chance to respond she finds herself wrapped in a hug. She's a bit surprised for a moment, but she can't help herself from returning it. It's so strange to see Aang like this, so much younger than she's used to but still so tall and real and much less… spirity. ] I… missed you too! [ Even though she feels like she's TOTALLY MISSING SOMETHING and looks completely baffled, she can't help but agree, regardless of how little sense it makes. She's not sure what to say- how often had she wished she could talk to him again? So she settles on the totally serious, completely important statement of: ]
You look… different!
[Action]
Different? Am I taller or shorter than you remember? [Clearly this is the best method of settling what she remembers.]
[Action]
[ It's definitely a little different, but spirits could look however they wanted! Probably, what did she know. ]
[Action]
Okay. I understand. [He closes his eyes for a moment to accept it. He's starting over with Korra once more.] The thing is... I'm from your past. This is a really confusing place... it's a whole different world, and it takes people from all different points in time.
[He takes a deep breath, and he goes on a little hesitantly. He's a bit insecure with everything he's heard about his future self, since it seems so hard to measure up to how great he sounds. Regardless of that still being... well, himself.]
So I'm not the same Aang whose spirit you know. Not- not yet, at least. [As long as he's here, it's virtually impossible.]
[Action]
A different world. Like, different from the mortal AND Spirit World? [ Because even though at first she'd thought it HAD to be the Spirit World, once she really thought about it she knew that couldn't be right. ] I wish this was as easy as being a weird spirit thing. And weird spirit things aren't easy. [ Frowning, she crosses her arms and really takes a hard look at him. ]
Well yeah, I mean you're a lot more huggy for one thing. [ Then she pauses for a moment as the implications of what he's saying really sink in. ] Wait a minute! So you're telling me you're not past-Avatar-spirit-Aang, you're actually live-this-age-physically-Aang? That's… that is so cool. [ She puts a hand to her head, still trying to really wrap it around this whole thing. ] And so, so weird.
[Action]
A lot of that's right. Things that are cool and weird sum up a lot about this place! [He rubs at his head sheepishly. There's the scary parts too, but it seems a bit soon to bring up the bad. And, he's glad to see Korra again, after all.]
Trust me. I wish this was as easy as a spirit thing, too. [Then it would be easier to solve everyone's problems, instead of feeling like he's failed as an Avatar.] I definitely love the part about being more huggy, though! [He can't imagine what it's like to be a spirit, not being able to hug or to really feel that warmth. ...Actually, he does know what that feels like and it only makes that feeling all the worse.]
[Action]
[ It's pretty much the coolest thing ever and she totally sounds like the excitable teenage girl that she is for a moment. However, something shifts in her expression. ] It… sounds like you know all about this place though. Just how long have you been here?
[Action]
[He grins meekly.]
But maybe you're right! Maybe the two of us can solve things together here. I'm really glad to meet you in person again, too!
[Action]
[ No, no no. That couldn't be right. Because if Aang was stuck here for two years, what hope did she have of getting back home?! She looks a little concerned at this, suddenly looking around her and thinking that she might have underestimated this place. ] That's awful. I'm so sorry, Aang. I promise I'll do whatever I can to help. [ Although yet again, if HE couldn't do it…
Something else catches her attention and she turns back to him. ] What do you mean, meet me again?
[Action]
[Action]
[ But she doesn't look as sure as she sounds, and as she crosses her arms some things click into place. ] ...You did know me.[ She concedes. ] I didn't think about it because I thought you were, you know, all spirity.
Re: [Action]
This... this would be the second time you forgot.
[Action]
But that's awful! All those people we don't remember. And then we get back home and we have no way of avoiding getting caught again because we don't remember it in the first place!
[ But she's getting a little worked up again, so she takes a breath. ] Sorry. I know it's not your fault, and I really appreciate you telling me about all of it. I wish I could remember. [ Silence for a moment. ] Have you ever… forgotten? Or left?
[Action]
Well... I've kind of done both in the past. When I first got here, to Luceti, I as told that I have been here in the past. Twice. Just like you, I didn't remember it at all. But I also wasn't around for long those times. [It was like toying with the emotions of Katara and Sokka, who were stuck there through all of that.]
And- and once, a few months after I got here... I did go home. It was weird. I lived through a few more days at home, but then I was back here in Luceti the next day. And I remembered this place still. Aside from that... I've been here in Luceti this whole time.
[Action]
So you didn't forget every time. I wonder what decides whether we'll remember or not? [ Whoever it was, she was totally gonna have some words with them. Very strong words. She shakes her head. ] I'm sorry you've been here all this time. I've never heard any stories about you being in a place like this, and I wanted to hear every story.
[Action]
[Action]
[ A good attempt at an optimistic smile. ] I mean, we've gotta get out… eventually, right?
[Action]
I just know we gotta find a way out. [He tries his own optimistic smile, even if the length of time he's been here makes it a little harder.] After all, we have to get home so that the people in your time can be born!
[action]
You know uh, everyone! Yeah.
[action]
Right. For everyone! But... I do know that I'll have kids. Someday. And grandkids! Jinora's here too, by the way.
[action]
Jinora! Here! Her dad's gonna flip if he ever finds out.
[action]
But now, Sokka and Zuko had gone home and returned without as fresh newcomers. Only Katara has been here longer than him. And he's seen so many friends come and go, and felt the joy and pain of each time.
He softly smiles.]
He probably would. He- he kind of was here for a little while...! But that was a long time ago. I... I'm doing my best to take care of her, like he would.
[action]
I'm sure you're doing a great job! Tenzin would be over the moon if he knew you were taking care of his kids. [ Well the fact that they were kidnapped and all might put a damper on that, but she decided not to mention that part. ]
[action]
[He does miss him dearly. And he misses Ikki dearly. But he also can't help but chuckle.]
He did look kind of silly with wings.
[action]
And I'm sure the kids love getting to see you, too!
