[ Oh, look! A new video entry. It starts up and it's… upside down. Actually it's more like the picture is twirling, so even though it starts upside down it's slowly turning until it's right-side up for a moment, revealing a teenage girl staring at it suspiciously before the slow spinning starts up again as she turns the journal around in her hands. ]

If this really is a camera it's the smallest one I've ever seen. [ She finally comments, stopping the spinning so that she is sideways on the screen. ] And what good is it even supposed to do, anyway?! Is this some kind of mover thing? Can anyone see me? Can anyone-

[ The video suddenly freezes as if she'd paused it, then starts up again. ] -like I'm talking to a book. Great. I get kidnapped or lost or whatever and I'm talking to a book. This is just- [ It pauses for a few seconds again. ] -I can't believe- [ Pause. ] -who even- [ Pause. Finally after what seems like a longer pause the video finally starts playing again and Korra is finally facing the right way with the camera. She looks pretty panicked. ]

Okay, this book is weird. It started talking to me and there's all sorts of writing but why do I even have this? Who even are you people writing in here? This is ridiculous. I'm leaving. ...As soon as I find the exit.

[ Korra's managed to find her way to the actual village now, still wearing the white shirt and pants she arrived in but a little more focused and less panicked. This wasn't the weirdest thing that's ever happened to her after all! Well, it probably wasn't anyway, but she wasn't about to sit around comparing them. She'd woken up in a forest with a weird book and nothing else, not even her own clothing let alone an explanation. Flipping through the pages of the book had given her a few details (although not as many as there could have been considering she wasn't exactly patient enough to sit around and read thoroughly at the moment) but really the BEST way to figure something out was to get up and out and see what it was with your own eyes.

Sometimes, anyway.

Seeing buildings had been a huge relief but the closer she got to them the more she found herself pausing. Of course part of her wanted to run right in and start demanding answers. The biggest part, really. But there was another, much smaller part that was telling her to be cautious and patient about the situation to avoid doing anything reckless.

That part sounded an awful lot like Tenzin.

Sure, she wasn't the best at taking his advice back home but in this situation she had to grudgingly admit that maybe she should at least start out cautious. Which is why she's now slowly peeking around a building, one hand against the wall and the other held up as if expecting a fight at any second- ]

[ Wait a second- ] You know who I am? [ I mean sure she was pretty well known back home, what with being the Avatar and everything but that didn't mean she was recognized by a lot of people based on how she looked. Sorry, no old memories for her! ]

[ Hah. ] Eeeh, you don't recognize my melodious voice?

Uh, no. [ As if realizing belatedly how blunt that sounded, she quickly adds ] Should I? Are you maybe… were you a probender, or something?

No, no. Nothing like that. In fact, if you don't remember me, then it's probably nothing to think about.

[ Even if that's a bummer, honestly. ... You know should he make a lie to her. If she presses, he decides, he will ]

[ But now he's got her curious! She's met a lot of people she knows or knows OF here already, after all. ]

Are you telling me there's more than one Avatar who's from the [ Which water tribe was she from... up ] 'pole, with power enough to kill a bear with her fists and beauty enough to make a man swoon with a glance?

Okay, look. I am the Avatar but plenty of people know about me because of it. [ Although… ] I, uh, don't think everyone knows the details.

[ Although she does laugh at a little at the description. ] What, are you trying to say I told you all that while we were drinking all that alcohol?

[ Oh, Avatar. He considers and ] Nope, nope! Actually, the stories I heard there were way more charged! Or rather, stories were made then!

The first part I believe, because I am a great storyteller. The second part, not so much. If we really did make such great stories there's no way I'd forget them.

[ Ha ha! Her logic is soundproof. ]

Hey, I didn't say "perfect" confidence. I'm just saying, if we really made such great stories I feel like that's the sort of thing I would remember. No matter how much imaginary alcohol is involved.

Unless, of course, the "you" that performed this actions is actually a different "you!" Such can be the nature of this world, you know!

A different me. Well, I do have some experience with those. [ Although somehow she doesn't think he means Aang or Wan. ]

Twice, huh. Do you get tired of introducing yourself? Is that why you haven't done it yet? [ The thought of people knowing her but her not knowing them is still a little uncomfortable. ]

You caught me again there. [ Still, that is rude. He was being a little rude here by principal, but ] Masaomi Kida, that's the name I'm known by. From Tokyo.

And you already know I'm Korra from the Southern Water Tribe. [ Although he kept adding extra words to her name. ] Nice to re-meet you, even if I have no idea where Tokyo is.

[ Might as well be formal. He even stood up to bow to his book, though the little picture that goes with voice probably doesn't reflect it ] Tokyo's a city on and island nation called Japan on a planet called Earth. Chances are, you'll be hearing a lot about the two bigger distinctions, we're pretty well-repped here.

[ Very formal! She doesn't catch the bow, but she laughs at the title anyway. She hadn't been expecting to hear that from anyone not from her world. ]

Wow. I feel like I should be taking notes. [ No, really. She really wants to remember this, if there were really a lot of people from there. ] Are there a lot of nations in your world?

Oh gosh, at least a hundred, but don't expect me to name them all on a map! Geography and history have never been my strong suits, so I'm far from someone to take notes from!

Hundred? [ She repeats, sounding alarmed. It was hard enough keeping peace between the nations in her own world, and they had nowhere near that many. ] That sounds like it gets really complicated.
