[ Oh, look! A new video entry. It starts up and it's… upside down. Actually it's more like the picture is twirling, so even though it starts upside down it's slowly turning until it's right-side up for a moment, revealing a teenage girl staring at it suspiciously before the slow spinning starts up again as she turns the journal around in her hands. ]

If this really is a camera it's the smallest one I've ever seen. [ She finally comments, stopping the spinning so that she is sideways on the screen. ] And what good is it even supposed to do, anyway?! Is this some kind of mover thing? Can anyone see me? Can anyone-

[ The video suddenly freezes as if she'd paused it, then starts up again. ] -like I'm talking to a book. Great. I get kidnapped or lost or whatever and I'm talking to a book. This is just- [ It pauses for a few seconds again. ] -I can't believe- [ Pause. ] -who even- [ Pause. Finally after what seems like a longer pause the video finally starts playing again and Korra is finally facing the right way with the camera. She looks pretty panicked. ]

Okay, this book is weird. It started talking to me and there's all sorts of writing but why do I even have this? Who even are you people writing in here? This is ridiculous. I'm leaving. ...As soon as I find the exit.

[ Korra's managed to find her way to the actual village now, still wearing the white shirt and pants she arrived in but a little more focused and less panicked. This wasn't the weirdest thing that's ever happened to her after all! Well, it probably wasn't anyway, but she wasn't about to sit around comparing them. She'd woken up in a forest with a weird book and nothing else, not even her own clothing let alone an explanation. Flipping through the pages of the book had given her a few details (although not as many as there could have been considering she wasn't exactly patient enough to sit around and read thoroughly at the moment) but really the BEST way to figure something out was to get up and out and see what it was with your own eyes.

Sometimes, anyway.

Seeing buildings had been a huge relief but the closer she got to them the more she found herself pausing. Of course part of her wanted to run right in and start demanding answers. The biggest part, really. But there was another, much smaller part that was telling her to be cautious and patient about the situation to avoid doing anything reckless.

That part sounded an awful lot like Tenzin.

Sure, she wasn't the best at taking his advice back home but in this situation she had to grudgingly admit that maybe she should at least start out cautious. Which is why she's now slowly peeking around a building, one hand against the wall and the other held up as if expecting a fight at any second- ]

[ Korra's not sure whether this person hoping they won't sound crazy is good or not. At least they realized it was messed up. ]

I know I don't have the best memory, but I still can't believe there are so many people who know me and say we've met that I don't know. "Super-weird" definitely starts to describe it. Well it's, uh, nice to re-meet you Bulla. I'm Korra. [ A small pause. ] But then I guess you already knew that.

This place can bring people from different worlds and even different timelines. For example, my mom and I were both here at the same time, but in her timeline, I hadn't even been born yet.

[Which she knows sounds insane, but it's the best example she can think of.]

It's a lot to take in. There is a guide you should be able to read with your journal that explains a lot of what's going on.

Timelines?! [ She puts her hands to the side of her head for a moment. ] I-I did see someone who isn't alive where I'm from, [ She admits slowly, lowering her hands. ] So as crazy as that sounds… I believe you. [ Although she doesn't sound like she's happy about it. ]

A guide? [ Oh, wait. ] I think I might have seen something like that but it was a lot to read. [ Despite herself she actually looks a little sheepish. ] It really has all that information in there?

It is a lot to read, but it covers all the basics and gets into some details. It was put together by people here who have been in the exact same situation of "Oh my gosh why am I in a strange place in different clothes than I last remember wearing with wings on my back?!"

[Bulla doesn't know how comforting that will actually be. For her, there was a mix of comfort in knowing that she wasn't the only one panicking, and anger that this had happened to so many other people.]

That does sound useful. [ but it was SO MUCH READING. She would end up reading it eventually, but it was probably going to take a while. Experiences were always better teachers for her than books, but it would be silly to ignore all that information right in front of her. ]

It is a little better knowing that I'm not alone in all of this. [ She admits, turning her head to try and see the wings that are now attached to herself. ] I didn't expect it when I first woke up. I just thought I'd been grabbed by someone.

It's a really creepy experience. It's too bad they don't leave people with their journals opened right to the guide.

[Or seasonally appropriate clothing, for that matter. She feels bad for everyone who's been dropped in here in the middle of winter with so little on.]

If you want to work off some frustration later, I can show you where the Battle Dome is and how to use it.

That would be too helpful.

[ Despite everything, the idea of something called a "Battle Dome" is very appealing to her. ]

Please tell me this "Battle Dome" is exactly what it sounds like. And if so, yes, please show me.

The Battle Dome is a place for training. It's got some pretty advanced technology and it's built very sturdy. Even my dad can't put a dent in it, and he's extremely powerful.

That sounds amazing.

[ She looks sort of excited, but then she stops at the description of her father. ]

Pretty powerful, huh? Even here? When I tried airbending earlier to test these wings [ They flutter behind her as if to make a point. ] it just… didn't feel the same.

[ The whole "other worlds" thing hasn't really sunk in enough to think that airbending wasn't a thing everywhere. ]

Everyone's at about half their normal power, here. And...yeah, Dad is strong enough that he could destroy a whole planet if he wanted.

[She pauses for a moment. Best to clarify.]

He wouldn't do something like that, but he's defeated major threats to the world before.

[ At first Korra looks a little relieved. ] It happens to everyone… Well, I guess that's a little better than just being me.

[ But the description of her father is still a little concerning. ] That's… definitely something. A whole planet? [ Korra was strong but she didn't think she was strong enough to destroy a planet. At least, it wasn't something she'd ever tried. ] Is that something you know from experience? [ Because despite her saying that he wouldn't, how else would you know something like that?! HOW ELSE. ]

Not from personal experience, no. I was born during a peaceful time. But Mom was around when Dad fought those powerful creeps, and so were a lot of friends of the family. Including Dad's best friend and rival who's about equally as powerful as him and who beat an awful intergalactic warlord who actually did destroy planets before.

That sounds awful. I'm glad he was able to stop them and bring peace.

[ A beat. ]

Uh, wait. Intergalactic? [ WHAT WAS SHE TALKING ABOUT. ]

[Bulla pauses. Oh, right. Not everyone has the technology that her world does...]

Oh...um. Traveling between two or more galaxies. A group of planets and billions of stars in one region of outer space would be a galaxy. So like...the moon and all other planets you can see with a telescope would be one galaxy. But then there's so much more that can't be seen by telescopes because it's too far away.

[Her mother or brother would have been able to explain it better, but she hopes it's a good general overview of the concept.]

[ When the video starts up again Korra is still just sort of… looking at the journal. Like she's waiting for it to come to life and translate everything because that just sounds so weird. Not that Bulla wasn't explaining it well or anything, but this was a lot of information in one day. She reaches for something she can try to relate to. ]

So when your world has to keep peace and balance… they have to do it between different planets? [ That was a much bigger range than just a few nations. She actually winces thinking about it. ]

Well, usually they let the leaders on each planet rule themselves...so it's not like it's a constant thing. In fact, it's peaceful much more often than it's horrible and dangerous.

That's… pretty amazing.

[ But she still frowns. ]

I could use some tips from them. I have a hard enough time trying to keep things peaceful in my work, and we only have a couple of nations. And they all rule themselves, too!

I think it's easier to keep things peaceful when there's just one really powerful person or a small group of powerful people threatening worlds. It means extremely tough battles but at least things will be peaceful again once they're defeated.

I guess that makes sense. [ Although she still looks curious. ] I guess my problem is… a bunch of really powerful people and groups one after another.

[ A small pause. ] But at least we don't have any destroyed planets. Yet. That I know of.
