[They sure had partied hard after the game Friday night. And of course Zuko and Korra had their own... Ahem... Private party when they got back home.
But now, the next morning, things had gone back to normal. But they were still in the same places they had been the night before. Which means Zuko is in Korra's bed. Wearing absolutely nothing.
Usually he would be getting up early but he was tired so he slept longer than usual. His arm draped around Korra, he stirred a little bit.]
[ In these sorts of situations Korra would sleep pretty late. Especially after a game and party- you needed your rest after that! It really-
…something was different. As her mind wakes up she's left with questions popping up left and right. "Football?" Partying? Some University? What had happened here?
And then as her mind wakes up so too does the rest of her, and she's left with the feeling that she's not alone.
Opening a tired eye she finds herself in bed with Zuko. Firelord Zuko. Younger Firelord Zuko. Who she'd apparently been dating and in bed with and now the memories were flooding into her head and oh spirits no why was this happening to her-
She lets out a yell and tries to jump out of bed, gets tangled in the blankets, and falls off the bed into a heap on the floor. ]
[Zuko was just starting wake up when he hears the shout.he suddenly bolts upright, startled and looking around in confusion. Where is he? This isn't his room!
And then he sees feet going over the side of the bed and hears a thud.
He stares with wide eyes, and soon realizes his state of undress. What was going on? What had happened! Leaning over, he peers over the side of the bed at the girl. The memories now starting to come back.]
Zuko! [ It sounds like she's trying to whisper but she's still freaked out so it comes out as a very, very loud whisper. She grabs the blanket that she's fallen off with and pulls it around her closer. ]
What- what was- explain that!
[ She's never had to deal with a shift, after all. And then, the more pressing matter- ]
Explain this! [ And she uses the arm that isn't holding the blanket to her to gesture around the room wildly. ] I don't even know what football is!
[Since Korra's managed to steal all the blankets by tangling herself up in them, Zuko has to settle for a pillow to... cover himself. His cheeks quickly turning red as he grabs for one. Zuko's pants and other clothes are unfortunately right next to Korra.]
ME?! I don't know either!
[He was kinda hoping she would know! Since she's from the future and all.]
Well, you've been here longer! Do those- [ It takes her a moment. ] -football games and weird universities and this happen a lot?! How did I- [ The memories of living as herself but not herself and believing something completely different were so strange that for a moment she actually forgets the way she just woke up.
Just a moment, though. ]
I can't believe this! [ And she spots his clothes and starts throwing them. One at a time. Right at him. ]
No! Weird things happen sometimes but this hasn't happened since I've been here!
[Zuko is just as mortified and confused as Korra is. And his eyes widen, quickly catching his clothes as she throws them at him. He then scrambles to put his pants on so that at least he's decent.]
[ And then she realizes what she's said and her face turns an odd shade of red. She struggles to her feet while trying to keep her blanket around her and look around the room wildly, finally hissing: ]
[Wow Korra, what a thing to say! Zuko just stares at her, his face turning even redder as he gathers up his clothes. This isn't exactly his first time in uh... doing that sort of activity, but the way she says it is just really embarrassing. And he's not going to comment on it cause he knows what she meant and its not something he really wants to talk about anyway.
Though when she's looking for her clothes, he looks over and spots them nearby.
...
Zuko tentatively picks them up and tosses them onto the bed for her.]
[ She snatches up the clothing, then gives him a look. ]
Well? [ And she makings a twirling motion with her hands. ] Turn around so I can get changed!
[ Never mind how ridiculous the request was, considering he'd already seen everything. She'd get to that once she no longer had to hold a blanket up to herself. ]
[ Korra pulls on the clothes he passed towards her in record time. The shirt says Luceti University (and is probably getting burned later) but it'll do for now. When what he says sinks in she rounds on him. ]
What's the big deal? [ She repeats slowly and deliberately. ] What's the big DEAL? [ That, not so slow and deliberate. ]
The big deal IS that you've already seen it! Zuko, all of this is a big deal! [ She looks sort of panicked, now. ]
[Zuko is getting a bit annoyed now. Yeah okay... it was kind of a big deal, but this wasn't their fault and what can they do about it? Nothing! Still he turns around, not waiting to see if its all clear or not.]
So are you saying it was bad? Well sorry if I sucked that much!
[ Her face turns just as red as she gives him a disbelieving look. ]
What?! That's not what I said! [ Why was this so complicated? ] Zuko, you're my past life's friend, you're another past life's descendant, you're the Firelord, you're- [ And here she pauses, slapping a hand to her face. ]
Do you have any idea how old you are in my time?! How good it was is so not the point here!
[...Well okay he hadn't quite thought of it like that. And that does make things a bit more awkward but still.]
So what? I'm not the Fire Lord here! And I don't know what I'm like or how old I am in your time but I'm not any of that here either! I'm just a guy!
[And sure she's the Avatar. Aang's next life and all that. But in this place, to him she's just a girl. A... very attractive and interesting girl. A friend and... thanks to circumstances out of their control, maybe something a bit more? After they get over the weird anyway.]
Edited (AGH so much phone tag messing up! Hope you got the gag tag though lol) 2014-09-30 12:16 (UTC)
Zuko, you're not "just a guy." When we were at that weird university you were just some guy and I was just some girl, but that's not how it works now that we remember. [ She gives an aggravated sigh, although it's not directed at him- more the situation as a whole. ]
Just because we're here doesn't mean it changes who we are back home!
[ Even though forgetting everything should sound like a great idea she can't help but frown at that. ]
No, it won't be. Just because you forget something doesn't mean it didn't happen!
[ Says the girl who's had amnesia (and apparently forgotten her "visits" here several times before, too.) ]
I don't plan on forgetting anything that happened here ever again, no matter how many more times they decide to drag me back and forth. So I guess that includes this.
You don't know that for sure! [ She crosses her arms, frowning. ] Just because we've forgotten before doesn't mean this won't be the time we remember things. Have you been here that long that you're just going to give up? Or-
[ And she uncrosses her arms. ] Do you just really want to forget me so bad?! You're the one who said it wasn't a big deal!
I don't just think of you as some old man! [ She looks frustrated at trying to explain what she thinks of him as, at even understanding what she thinks of him as. ] I like you, I like hanging out with you, but it was all...[ Fake? Different? Altered? She clearly can't think of the right way to put it, and shrugs helplessly. ]
Well I can't think like that. [ And maybe that's a big part of the problem. ] Don't you get it? I'm the Avatar. I can't not think about back home. But I don't want to forget, either. [ And there was the dilemma. ]
[It was easy for him to forget that she was the Avatar in her time. Aang's always been the Avatar for him after all. But he understood, at least in part, where she was coming from.]
Sorry.
[He said quietly, looking rather dejected as he slipped on his tunic and started to leave without even bothering to tie it up. It was probably best if he just got out of here.]
[ She answers, and although there's an edge to her voice she doesn't sound insincere. As he walks towards the door she can't help but think she should stop him and they should try to clear this whole thing up somehow- talk it through or something, but she's too stubborn and upset with the situation, so she just crosses her arms and lets him walk. ]

I know that.
[There's a pause as he tries to gather his thoughts.]
But it doesn't matter. This isn't home, and when we do get back, we won't remember any of this anyway.
[He's had a lot of time to think on these things when he discovered he was crushing on Katara.]
It'll be like it never happened.

You can't stop it! No one can! I've been here who knows how many times too, and people tell me I've done things I don't remember!

[He's indignant and huffy, but there's a red tinge on his cheek that isn't scarred.]
